AMD Partners With Microsoft To Create Radeon RX 6900XT Halo Infinite Edition Card

With Halo Infinite’s launch less than a month away, it’s expected that the game’s publisher, Microsoft, would want to kick up some excitement for it. To that end, the software company partnered up with AMD to create a special edition Radeon RX 6900XT graphics card.

Officially, the card is known as the Radeon RX 6900XT Halo Infinite Edition and like all cards of this calibre, AMD will only be selling a limited number of them. On an internal level, the card’s hardware remains unchanged and that means you’ll still get the same 7nm RDNA2 GPU, 16GB GDDR6 memory, 128MB Infinity Cache, as well as the same 300W TDP. Expectedly, the card will also fully support AMD’s FreeSync Premium Pro anti-screen tearing technology.

Aesthetically, the card’s cooler shroud dons the accents and colour scheme of Halo’s most iconic character, Master Chief. Simply put, the cooler shroud uses the olive green fatigue of Master Chief’s Mark IV Mojlnir Armour, while the fringes of the card’s middle fan are accented with gold. Similar to the colour of his helmet’s visor. Around the back, the card’s backplate sports the same green colour scheme, plus Master Chief’s 117 Spartan callsign and the glowing blue port that represents the point where Cortana used to be.

Excited about this card? Well, we’ve got some bad news for you: Neither AMD, Microsoft, nor 343 Industries will be selling the Halo Infinite Edition card. Instead, all three companies will be giving away multiple units of the card to several lucky winners. All they need to do is to follow the AMD Radeon and Halo Twitter accounts closely to learn how they can be winners.

AMD isn’t the first brand to create a special edition card in support of a game. Some of you may remember back in 2020, NVIDIA released a special edition GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, covered in the bright neon yellow theme, in anticipation of CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077. Like the 6900XT Halo Infinite Edition, the card did not go on sale and was instead given out as part of a sweepstakes event, hosted by NVIDIA itself.
