We’ve mentioned accessory maker brands Dbrand and CASETiFY a couple of times over the years. Though the former had some minor beef with PlayStation over its PS5 faceplates, we’d never thought the two accessory makers would have issues with each other. But that changed in the wee hours of this morning, when the former launched a “multi-million dollar” lawsuit against the latter.
The accessory brand is not alone in its suing of CASETiFY though, as it is joined by Zack Nelson, the guy behind the YouTube channel JerryRigEverything. His involvement in the case is because Nelson and Dbrand co-created the Teardown skins and cases, which have prints that match the internals of phones. And the two are accusing CASETiFY of ripping off these designs in its own Inside Out line.
Casetify stole our products. Now we’re suing them.
Here’s how we found out… (1/6)

For evidence, Dbrand and Nelson point out a number of inside jokes and Easter eggs for fans of the two, which were also found in CASETiFY’s products. This includes the line “glass is glass and glass breaks”, a line that commonly appears in Nelson’s torture tests.
Other examples include references to the brand’s founding date of 11 November 2011, one of which deliberately replaces the accurate battery capacity in Wh. Then there’s the R0807, referencing the Dbrand support account on X, formerly Twitter, and the Eye of Providence print that will, probably understandably, not be found on any phone battery.
Following the public announcement of the lawsuit, CASETiFY has since pulled its Inside Out line from its website. Meanwhile, the two accusers announced a new variant of the Teardown skins called the X-ray series, which comes in “dark” and “light” versions. You can check out the list of evidence by Dbrand via its X thread, or better yet, listen to Nelson’s breakdown of the case via his JerryRigEverything Youtube channel.
