A new set of images featuring detailed shots of what is believed to be the DJI Pocket 3 have been shared by leakster Igot Bogdanov (aka @Quadro_News on X). A follow up to his previous leak from last month, this latest collection of photos now provide us with a much closer look at the supposedly upcoming device’s camera and onboard display.
From the set’s first image, it is revealed that the alleged DJI Pocket 3 will feature a form factor that mostly resembles its predecessor, with the exception of the new wide LCD display. Sadly, the photo itself is far too fuzzy so it is hard to make out certain details such as button arrangements and so on. What’s for certain is that the device is shown to be attached to what appears to be a do-it-all handle or battery extender, therefore making it look taller.
The next image from Quadro_News shows us a closeup of the camera which, to be honest, seems not too different from the Pocket 2. Even though the module itself might not feature any visual changes, it is very likely that DJI may have included an upgraded image sensor behind the lens. Apart from that, the device’s camera is shown to be mounted on what appears to be the same 3-axis gimbal mount as its predecessor.
Finally, we have the third and last photo, which features a more detailed look at the Pocket 3’s intriguing new wide display. Without a doubt, this new addition does appear to be out of place at first, due to the fact that it exceeds the width of the device’s body. However, we have a reason to believe that the screen can be tilted for storage when not in use, and you can see evidence of this from the second photo where it sits flush with the rest of the body. More interestingly, it is also possible that having it this way could enable vertical recordings, which is ideal for social media-based content creation. Without a live demonstration, it is unclear whether the screen tilting feature is done manually or through motorised means.
Right now, the more important question is when will DJI launch the Pocket 3? Unfortunately, the company has been keeping everything about the product under wraps, so we won’t know for sure until an official announcement is made. As mentioned by Quadro_News prior to this, it is believed that the device is still in testing, therefore it may still be a long while to go before a launch could happen.
