HONOR has announced that it will soon be releasing a new phone dubbed the X9b. The successor to the X9a from earlier this year, the phone retains its focus on durability, with the company stating that the upcoming device is “tougher and more resilient than ever”.
The phone will use what the brand calls an “All-Angle Ultra Tough Design” with 360-degree durability. One of the protection features is called the Ultra-Bounce Anti-Drop Display, which uses three layers made up of single-point reinforcement protection, wraparound cushioning, and deep seal protection.
Expanding on the cushioning, it claims that the material used in the phone is able to absorb up to 1.2 times the impact of a drop. Apparently, the upcoming X9b also holds the world’s first smartphone with five-star all-angle drop resistance certification from Switzerland’s SGS.
Nothing else about the phone was revealed other than its support for 5G nor did the company announce a launch date, so we’ll have to wait to find out more. For reference, its predecessor sports a 6.67-inch 120Hz curved OLED display, runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, has a triple-camera setup on the back, and is powered by a 5,100mAh battery. The X9a retails for RM1,499.
