Redmagic has officially launched its latest gaming smartphone, the Redmagic 8 Pro, for the Malaysian market. Much like its global release, the phone is offered in two memory configurations and separate designs for their rear case.
The entry version of the Redmagic 8 Pro is dubbed as the Matte variant, which features a dark sandstone-like finish and a vertical camera array. The fancier Void model, on the other hand, comes with a glass plus matte rear panel, a RGB lighting system, while its cameras are arranged within a square glass island. These are basically the global versions of the standard and Plus variants of the Redmagic 8 Pro that are originally released for the Chinese market.
Despite the different designs, both variants of the new gaming smartphone features a flat 6.8-inch AMOLED display with 2480 x 1116 pixel resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, 960 Hz touch sampling rate, and a second-generation under display 16 MP camera. In addition to having physical buttons on both sides, situated on the right side of its surrounding frame are two capacitive shoulder triggers with 520 Hz touch sampling rate. They also come with stereo speakers, dual X-axis linear motors, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and a USB-C port.
Under the hood, both the Matte and Void versions are equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which is kept cool by Redmagic’s built-in ICE 11 system. As for configurations, the former variant features 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256 GB UFS 4.0 storage, while the latter comes with a higher memory count of 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage. Additionally, powering the two is the same 6,000 mAh battery with 65 W fast charging capability.
As for imaging, both devices are equipped with a triple camera setup helmed by Samsung’s 50 MP GN5 sensor, which is paired together with an 8 MP ultra wide and a 2 MP macro. Meanwhile, situated on the display is a second generation 16 MP under display camera (UDC) for all of your selfie or video calling needs.
The Redmagic 8 Pro series is priced at RM 3,699 for the Matte model, and RM 4,299 for the Void. It is available now via the brand’s authorised distributors nationwide, as well as its official online store on Lazada. It’s also worth mentioning that both variants are now currently offered at a special promotional price of RM 2,899 and RM 3,499 respectively starting today until 25 February 2023, exclusively via Redmagic’s Lazada store.
