LEGO Announces Bowser As Its Latest Set For Adults

LEGO previously collaborated with Nintendo to have brick versions of Mario and Luigi. In March this year, Princess Peach was also added to the lineup. But now, and more importantly, the two companies have come together to bring the villain of the series, Bowser, into the brick dimension.

This LEGO Bowser is, to put it simply, huge. The set consists of 2807 pieces, and the completed set looks to be about the size of a human head. At least, based on the images provided. But thanks to the size and number of pieces, details are pretty accurate to the character’s in-game model. That’s always a plus, and a big part of me wished the Tallneck got the same treatment.

In addition to the size and number of pieces, LEGO Bowser also comes in as part of a series called “Adults Welcome”. The kit also has movable parts when completed, from the head, mouth and neck to its arms, legs and tail, with a button to move the former set. There’s even a fireball launcher in the set.

All this is in contrast to the base LEGO Mario sets which, while relatively high tech with Bluetooth and NFC, are still primarily for kids. That being said, the two are obviously meant to be played with together, considering the theme. If you have all the related sets, you and your kids can probably recreate some of the levels from the games and experience them in real life, sort of.

The 2807 piece count is not just for LEGO Bowser, though from the look of things, the vast majority are. There are some other pieces that are meant for the platform and the tower pair that comes with the set.

Being the set with the most pieces, it should be no surprise that LEGO Bowser is the priciest entry into the LEGO Mario series. As per the press release, this set is priced at US$269.99 (~RM1195). But there’s no word on local pricing and availability just yet.
