Samsung Display has set up a new website to promote its Flex OLED display technology. By scrolling through the site, users are presented with several use cases featuring the company’s flexible panel, including foldable devices and more.
Each use case is separated into five different sub-categories: Flex Bar, Flex Square, Flex Note, Rollable Flex, and Slidable Flex. The first two are designs that most of us are familiar with by now, as both of which are featured on the Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold series. The remaining three, on the other hand, are products that we have yet to see coming from the South Korean tech giant.
As seen from the website, The Flex Note use case depicts a laptop with a foldable display a la the Lenovo X1 Fold. Meanwhile, the Rollable Flex shows a silhouette of a TV that is much like LG’s version but with a smaller and cylindrical base, and Slidable Flex teases a mobile device bears a slight resemblance to OPPO’s rollable smartphone concept.
It’s hard to say if Samsung Display is actually planning to debut products featuring the Flex Note, Rollable Flex, or Slidable Flex form factors in the future. It is possible that these devices are just examples to showcase the different capabilities of the Flex OLED technology to the company’s clients, which includes third-party tech companies such as Apple and OPPO.
This certainly isn’t the first time the company had envisioned product concepts featuring its Flex OLED displays. Almost a year prior, Samsung Display teased a scroll-like rollable tablet concept as well as a tri-fold smartphone – both of which are devices that have yet to see actual production.
