Upcoming Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G Gets RAM Plus Feature; Malaysian Launch Imminent

Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G Malaysia RAM Plus

Samsung launched the new Galaxy A52s 5G in certain regions last month, which is a slightly updated variant of the Galaxy A52 mid-range phone that was released in April this year. Just recently, the company debuted a new feature known as RAM Plus via a firmware update for the device in India – a memory expansion tool that is similar to the ones featured on Vivo, OPPO, and realme smartphones.

Much like the Vivo V21 and realme 8 series, RAM Plus enables Galaxy A52s 5G users to convert ROM (onboard storage capacity) into RAM of equivalent size. However, unlike the other brands, Samsung’s tool does not offer the option to customise a specific amount, and sets 4GB as the default for conversion. Which is not actually an issue, given that the phone comes with up to 256GB of ROM – leaving you with 252GB (and 12GB of RAM) after conversion, which is still plenty for gaming and media-based storage.

RAM Plus is looking to be a very useful feature, especially to users who wish to squeeze out some extra performance out of their devices. While the feature is exclusive to the Galaxy A52s 5G for now, there’s a possibility that Samsung may also introduce the tool to its future smartphone models, as well as a new addition for its current or older devices via a firmware update.

As for the smartphone itself, the new mid-ranger mostly sports the same hardware specifications and features as the original Galaxy A52 5G, with the exception of its onboard chipset. Rather than a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G, the newer model features the better performing Snapdragon 778G SoC instead.

Samsung has yet to officially announce when it plans to launch the Galaxy A52s 5G in Malaysia. However, we’ve discovered that the product and support pages for the device are already live on Samsung Malaysia’s website, which suggests that the company may be gearing up to announce its local availability soon.

Interestingly, DirectD has already listed the new mid-range smartphone to be available for purchase via its website. According to the local distributor’s listing, the Galaxy A52s 5G is retailing at a recommended price of RM1,899 and comes with a one-year warranty by Samsung Malaysia. We’re unsure if DirectD jumped the gun, or Samsung had quietly launched the device locally through a third party.
