Recently, we saw retailer Rakuten Taiwan leak the existence of Alan Wake Remastered. Shortly after, the game;s creative director Sam Lake made the official announcement. But the rumour mill churns on, as word on a sequel is already up and about.
In a Giant Bomb stream, Jeff Grubb claims that a sequel to Alan Wake is in the planning stages. He also mentions that Epic Games will be involved, likely as publisher as it is doing for the current remaster. But above all, Grubb claims that the remaster is serving as a “precursor” to the sequel.

Precursor is an interesting word to use. If one were to read into it, you could take it to mean that Remedy Entertainment has always wanted to make a sequel to the original Alan Wake. But because the game is so old, perhaps the argument is that releasing a remaster first will help people remember that the series exists before announcing a sequel.
But of course, this is all conjecture based on limited information. Even then, if Alan Wake 2 is really still just in the planning phase, it will be a long time before we hear anything official about it. As for the remaster, it is still set for a 5 October release.
