Original Nintendo Switch May Get A Price Cut Ahead Of OLED Model Launch

Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch OLED was announced back in July, and is set to launch on 8 October. And it looks like Nintendo is cutting down the price of the original Switch model ahead of the launch of the new one. At least, this looks to be the case in Europe, or more specifically in France.

Twitter account @nintendalerts notes that a French retailer is currently listing the original Nintendo Switch for EUR249 (~RM1218). This is down from the original price of EUR330 (~RM1614), according to VGC. The outlet also reports that the discount will also be implemented in the UK, but no date as to when that will happen.

Officially, Nintendo does not set an official retail price for the Nintendo Switch. But the price cut may be a result of lowered distribution price, which may have happened to stimulate sales ahead of the OLED model’s launch next month. But notably, the report makes no mention either of the second revision with improved battery life or the Lite model.

In a sense, it’s a similar situation with us, where the prices are set by the local distributors of the handheld console hybrid, rather than Nintendo itself. With that being said, it remains to be seen if the original Switch will see a price cut on our shores as we approach the release date of the OLED model.
