Infinix Unveils New Hot 40 Smartphone Series

Infinix Hot 40 series unveiled

Infinix has recently unveiled its new Hot 40 series of smartphones, which is available in three variants. These consist of the top-shelf Hot 40 Pro, the vanilla Hot 40, and the entry-level Hot 40i.

First we have the Pro variant, which comes with a 6.78-inch LCD FHD+ display with 120Hz refresh rate and boasting 500 nits brightness. The phone itself measures at 168.61 x 76.61 x 8.25mm and weighs 199 grams, while the overall design (which also applies to the rest of its siblings, by the way) is somewhat reminiscent of Apple’s iPhone. Another similarity is Infinix’s own take on the Dynamic Island feature, dubbed as the “Magic Ring”, which masks the top-centred camera cutout on the phone’s display. As such, here is where you’ll find notifications and other alerts.

Specifications-wise, under the hood of the Infinix Hot 40 Pro is a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, up to 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB UFS 2.2 internal storage. The former is expandable up to an additional 8GB via virtual RAM, while the latter can be expanded up to 1TB via a microSD card slot. Besides that, also onboard is a 5,000mAh battery with 33W USB-C fast charging support, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and Android 13 out of the box via the brand’s XOS 13.5 interface.

In terms of imaging, the Infinix Hot 40 Pro incorporates a triple camera setup comprising a 108MP primary sensor, 2MP macro, and a depth sensor. Meanwhile, housed within the aforementioned cutout is a 32MP selfie camera.

Next up is the vanilla Hot 40, which offers the same 6.78-inch LCD FHD+ display, with a lower 90Hz refresh rate and 500 nits peak brightness. Unlike its Pro sibling, this variant runs on a MediaTek Helio G88 chipset, along with up to 8GB LPDDR4 RAM (expandable up to 8GB virtual RAM) and up to 256GB storage (expandable via a microSD card). Besides that, the 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging via USB-C, side-mounted fingerprint sensor and XOS 13.5 can be found on this model as well.

For photography, on the back of the phone is a dual camera setup comprising a smaller 50MP primary sensor and a 2MP macro. In front is the same 32MP selfie camera with dual-led flash that’s situated in the display’s top-centred cutout.

Last but not least, we have the entry-level Infinix Hot 40i, which offers a smaller 6.58-inch LCD HD+ display with 90Hz refresh rate and 480 nit peak brightness. Under its hood is a Unisoc T606 SoC with up to 8GB LPDDR4 RAM and up to 256GB UFS storage. As with its siblings, you can expand its RAM and storage via virtual memory and microSD card respectively.

eanwhile, powering the phone is the same 5,000mAh battery capacity but with a lower 18W USB-C fast charging support, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and XOS 13.5. The Hot 40i is also the only model from the series to offer the least cameras. More specifically, on its back is a single 50MP primary shooter, whereas in front is a 32MP selfie camera.

Infinix did not provide any details regarding the new Hot 40 series’ pricing, and the same can be said about its international availability. However, the company did note that each model is expected to be priced below US$200 (~RM934), though this will vary depending on region. We expect the company to make another announcement once the series’ launch approaches.
