The Redmagic 8S Pro was first launched in July, before landing on our shores a month later. Now, it looks like a successor model has been unveiled. As you’d expect, this is called the Redmagic 9 Pro, which comes alongside a Plus model.
For the most part, the Redmagic 9 Pro and Pro Plus comes with all of its usual gaming phone trims, though it looks like some elements got turned up to 11. One example is the RGB cooling fans, combining what were previously two separate items on the spec sheet. Speaking of fans, the company claims that they spin up to 22,000 RPM.
Beyond the gaming aesthetic, the Redmagic 9 Pro duo come with a 6.8-inch AMOLED screen featuring a resolution of 1.116 x 2,480, and up to 120Hz refresh rate. It also has a pretty high peak brightness of 1,600 nits, and a fingerprint sensor underneath that can also double as a heart rate monitor. As you’d expect, the brain of the phone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Continuing with their similarities, their main camera setup consist of a 50MP main + 50 wide-angle shooters at the back, and an under-display 16MP shooter in front.
As for their differences, the Redmagic 9 Pro and its Plus variant come with three RAM and storage configurations each, which we’ll get to in a bit. The battery of the Pro model is rated at 6,500mAh with an 80W charging rate, while the Plus model instead gets a 5,500Mah + 165W combo.
The Redmagic 9 Pro comes in 8GB + 256GB, 12GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 512GB configurations, and are priced at RMB4,399 (~RM2,888), RMB4,799 (~RM3,151) and RMB5,199 (~RM3414), respectively. As for the Pro Plus model, they are 16GB + 256GB, 16GB +512GB and 24GB + 1TB combos, costing RMB5,499 (~RM3611), RMB5,799 (~RM3,808) and RMB6,999 (~RM4,596), respectively. These come in the default black colourway, but there are also transparent white and transparent black options as well. These cost more, but don’t come with the same configurations.
It does seem a tad early for the Redmagic 9 Pro models to be announced, considering the 8 Pro was first unveiled earlier this year. But on that note, no word on when these will be available elsewhere yet.
