ASUS today launched its new Vivobook 16 (M1605) laptop for the Malaysian market. As with most products from the same range, it is offered with a thin and light form factor and powerful hardware for both work and play.
The ASUS Vivobook 16 measures at 14.12 x 9.82 x 0.78 inches and weighs at only 1.88kg. Despite its slim and compact build, the ASUS Vivobook 16 boasts US MIL-STD-810H certification for durability. And as implied by its name, the laptop features a 16-inch IPS LED display which offers WUXGA (1920 x 1200 px) resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio, 60Hz refresh rate, 300-nits typical brightness, and 45% NTSC colour gamut. It is also TÃœV Rheinland-certified for eye care, with low blue-light levels.
Alongside the onboard touchpad is a full-sized ASUS ErgoSense keyboard which has a 19.05 mm key pitch, a 0.2 mm key-cap dish, and long 1.4 mm key travel. I/O-wise, the Vivobook 16 employs a USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port with power delivery, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, a USB 2.0 port, HDMI output, and a 3.5 mm audio combo jack. The laptop also comes with WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless connectivity, Dirac-enhanced audio system, built-in microphone array, a fingerprint sensor, and a webcam privacy shield.
Under the hood, the new Vivobook 16 is equipped with either an AMD Ryzen 5 7530U processor or a Ryzen 7 7730U. Regardless of variant, both feature AMD Radeon Graphics, up to 16GB DDR4 SO-DIMM RAM and 512GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD storage. Besides that, it also comes with Windows 11 Home, IceBlade fan and dual air vents cooling system, as well as a built-in 42WHrs battery with fast charging support. According to ASUS, the latter can top-up the battery capacity to 60% in as little as 49 minutes.
The ASUS Vivobook 16 is available to order via the brand’s official website and eStore. It is priced at RM2,599 for the Ryzen 5 7530U + 8GB option, and RM2,999 for the Ryzen 7 7730U + 16GB. In terms of colour options, the new laptop is offered in either Cool Silver or Indie Black.
