ASUS ROG Ally With Ryzen Z1 Comes To Malaysia Via CelcomDigi

ASUS ROG Ally

Previously, ASUS teased that it is bringing in the more affordable ROG Ally (the one with the AMD Ryzen Z1 instead of Z1 Extreme) to Malaysia. The caveat was that this will be done exclusively via a local telco. Now, about a week since the initial teaser, said telco is revealed to be CelcomDigi, which is only making it available to those who subscribe to one if its fibre plans.

Specifically, CelcomDigi says that it will be making the ASUS ROG Ally available to those who sign up for its 300Mbps fibre plan or higher. This is essentially the same offer that allows you to add a PS5 to your fibre subscriptions.

In addition to your monthly fibre subscription, adding the ASUS ROG Ally would mean tacking on an additional RM114 a month, or RM4 a day as the telco puts it. This comes down to RM2,736 at the end of a 24-month contract, which is still lower than the RM2,799 MSRP which CelcomDigi says the handheld gaming PC has.

As for the ASUS ROG Ally itself, being the more affordable version, it comes with six CPU cores, which is two less than the Z1 Extreme variant. Similarly It has eight RDNA3 cores less than its more expensive counterpart, leaving it at four. Total cache size is also down to 22MB. Beyond these differences, it is otherwise identical to its pricier variant.

But going back to its availability, CelcomDigi says interested customers can get this version of the ASUS ROG Ally, when they sign up for an applicable fibre plan at any Celcom bluecube, Digi Store or participating partner stores. An FAQ page notes that it will take three to five working days for the device to be delivered to addresses in Peninsular Malaysia, or five to seven working days for those in East Malaysia. And if anything goes wrong with it, warranties are handled by ASUS Malaysia.
