It should be no real surprise that Microsoft is hard at work improving its Bing AI, as well as making it available in more places and mediums. Previously, the AI became able to take voice prompts on desktop after being a mobile exclusive feature for awhile. Now, it looks like the feature is also making its way to other browsers beyond Edge, starting with Google Chrome and Safari.
Windows Latest reports that the ability to chat with the Bing AI on Chrome and Safari has started rolling out to more people. This is after making it available for a very short period of time on the same two browsers before rolling back support a month back. Now, the feature also comes with native dark mode support.
That being said, it looks like the user experience with the Bing AI will be more limited on Google Chrome. The report notes that with said browser the chat capabilities are limited to a character count of 2,000, as opposed to 4,000 on Edge. There’s also the limit of only being able to take five messages per conversation instead of 30.
The report does not mention tests done with Safari, and at the time of writing we did not have access to it to do the test ourselves. That being said, The Verge has access to both split between its staff, and has reported that both browsers share the same limitations.
The report cites an insider source who says that Bing AI will be coming to Chrome and Safari “in the coming days or weeks for everyone”. This was echoed by a statement by Microsoft, echoing the same message and saying that this is “part of our testing on other browsers”. As you may have noticed by now, Mozilla Firefox has been left out of the conversation completely.
