vivo X100 Series Now Official; The First Dimensity 9300 Devices

vivo X100 launch

You may have already seen reports of vivo launching its X100 series on 13 November, with three members in the line up. Now that the launch event is behind us, it turns out that there are only two phones in the series. They are the base model vivo X100, and its Pro model.

There’s a simple explanation as to why this is the case, or so claims vivo. During the series’ launch in Beijing, China, the company said that the Pro Plus was just what it called the Pro model internally.

With that out of the way, let’s get to the phones that actually appeared at the launch. The base model vivo X100 comes with a 6.78-inch screen with a resolution of 2,800 x 1,260 and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. No surprise as to what the chipset is at this point – the MediaTek Dimensity 9300. Worth pointing out that the phone also has an IP68 rating.

Then there’s the battery, rated at 5,000mAh with a charging rate of 120W. The phone comes with quite a few RAM and storage configurations, so we’ll get to that later.

Despite the way its camera island looks, the vivo X100 only comes with a triple camera setup at the back. This consists of a 50MP main + 64MP telephoto + 50MP wide angle shooters. In front, it has a 32MP shooter in a punch-hole cutout.

For the vivo X100 Pro, it comes with the same screen, chipset, and the IP68 rating. Bit things get a little different from here on. Starting with the battery, the capacity is a little higher at 5,400mAh and 50W wireless charging, but with a lower wired charging rate at 100W.

Now for its cameras. The vivo X100 Pro comes with a 50MP one-inch sensor main unit, accompanied by a 50MP Zeiss APO camera, and a 50MP wide angle shooter. The front-facing one is similar to the base model; a 32MP camera in a punch-hole cutout.

On the software side of things, vivo has made a pretty big deal about its own LLM called the BlueLM. The showcase during its launch sounded pretty impressive, only the language in question here is Mandarin.

Then for its cameras, both vivo X100 models let you adjust bokeh levels after a shot has been taken. And for the vivo X100 Pro specifically, the company has highlighted its ability to take shot of the sun without blowing out the rest of the shot.
