WhatsApp Is Developing A Multi-Account Feature

WhatsApp seems to be developing an interesting feature that could make it much easier for you to manage multiple accounts. According to a report by WABetaInfo, a multi-account feature is under work, which has apparently been spotted in the business version of the app on Android.

As seen in other apps, a multi-account feature would let you log into multiple WhatsApp accounts on the same phone and switch between them without having to log out. The menu seems to be placed in the settings and according to the screenshot, it is possible to add more than two accounts, although there’s no mention yet of a limit to how many accounts you can manage in total.

The report explains that this feature will enable users to maintain privacy, manage notifications, and use multiple accounts simultaneously without having to install the app across several devices. However, it’s still unknown how notifications will be handled if you’re logged into two or more accounts.

Just recently, the Meta-owned company officially released Companion Mode, a feature that lets you link your account from your primary phone to a maximum of five other devices including smartphones and tablets. When linked, all your messages, call history, and media are synced across all the devices.

There are a few limitations to this feature such as not being able to view live locations, create and view broadcast lists, or add or delete statuses. Another security feature is that if you don’t use WhatsApp on your primary phone for more than 14 days, all your secondary devices will be automatically logged out of your account.

In related news, WhatsApp also rolled out a video messaging feature for selected beta testers of the app. Unlike sending an existing video, this tool lets users directly record and send a video message just like the voice recording button.
