Last year, Xiaomi unveiled the TV Stick 4K, the 4K version of the original Mi TV Stick. After a whole year, the company is finally making the upgraded streaming device available for the Malaysian market, offering an affordable option to “smartify” your non-smart TV.
The previous iteration of the device only supported Full HD resolution while the newer version can stream in 4K, as its name implies. It runs on Android TV 11, supports the AV1 codec, and comes pre-loaded with Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and YouTube.
The TV Stick 4K operates using a quad-core Cortex-A35 ARM processor along with a MALI-G31 MP2 GPU. It is equipped with 2GB of RAM, twice as much as its predecessor, and 8GB of storage. Aside from the high 4K resolution, it also has support for Dolby Vision in addition to Dolby Atmos and DTS HD.
The product comes with a remote control with dedicated buttons for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Google Assistant, which is built into the streaming device. The remote supports both Bluetooth and IR, allowing you to use it from any angle.
As for connectivity, the streaming device features an HDMI port, Bluetooth 5.2, and support for dual-band Wi-Fi, though it only has a micro USB port to power it. Of course, it also has Chromecast built-in, making it easy for you to stream content from your phone, tablet, or laptop over Wi-Fi.
The Xiaomi TV Stick 4K is now available at official Xiaomi retailers nationwide with a price tag of RM219, RM60 more than its Full HD counterpart.
