Twitter Rolls Out New Clipping Tool To Select Spaces Users On iOS

Twitter Spaces Clipping Tool iOS

A new clipping tool has been rolled out to select Spaces hosts on iOS, Twitter revealed earlier today. With the new feature, they are able to clip up to 30 seconds of audio from their sessions and share it with other users on the platform.

Although released as a test for now, the new feature complements the existing recording tool for Spaces, which has been made available to all Twitter users since January. As recordings can be shared on the platform for public listening, clips could act as an accompanying preview – giving listeners an insight of what was discussed during the session. In another possible use case, hosts could also clip highlighted moments – such as important statements, jokes and so on – and later share them on their Twitter feed.

Of course, the platform’s clipping tool isn’t exactly all that new to the audio-only broadcasting and discussion scene. Clubhouse has offered the same feature as well as the ability to record entire sessions to its users since October of last year. Therefore, it is only natural for Twitter to play catch up sooner or later.

As mentioned earlier, the new tool is only available to select iOS users for the time being, with plans to roll it out to some Android and web users in the near future. The social media platform did not say when the feature is expected to be publicly available.
