CES 2022 continues to be the event where numerous consumer electronics brands showcase their latest products for the new year. Not excluded from that list is Panasonic’s high-end audio brand Technics, which recently debuted its new EAH-A800 over-ear headphones that are promised to offer hi-fi audio and “industry-leading” noise cancelling.

Featured on the Technics EAH-A800 are 40mm drivers, along with the brand’s proprietary Acoustic Control Chamber technology to manage air flow for optimal driver performance and bass response, as well as its capacitor technology for limiting distortion and maintaining sound quality. Panasonic says the headphones support AAC audio format, and also LDAC codec for high quality audio transmissions via Bluetooth.

The new headphones come equipped with a dual hybrid active noise cancelling (ANC) setup, where ambient noise is filtered out through built-in feedback microphones that feature both analogue and digital filters. On top of a full-on external audio filtering mode, the EAH-A800 also features Natural Ambient and Attention settings. Specifically, the former allows for all ambient noise to pass through the headphones, whereas the latter picks up and amplifies voices so that users are able to hear announcements or conversations.

Besides that, it also comes with a total of eight microphones that enable for greater audio clarity and external noise filtering when making voice calls. Connectivity-wise, it features multipoint pairing, which allows for simultaneous connection to two different devices over Bluetooth.

Panasonic says the EAH-A800 boasts up to 50 hours of usage with ANC enabled. While that alone is already impressive, disabling the noise cancelling feature and high quality audio codec support will greatly extend its battery life even further – up to a whopping 60 hours of playback. In addition, the device also comes with fast charging support via USB-C, where it is claimed that a 15-minute top-up could grant it around 10 hours of use.

The Technics EAH-A800 is slated to be available in the US and Europe this February for US$350 (~RM1,467), and is offered in black or white colour options. As with most products that recently made their debut during CES 2022, it is not known whether Panasonic intends to launch the new headphones in Malaysia or other regions in the near future.
