Garmin Officially Launches Venu 2 Plus And vivomove Sport Smartwatches

Garmin Venu 2 Plus vivomove Sport CES 2022

Garmin has launched two smartwatches earlier today, including a new variant to its Venu 2 line and a brand new vivomove Sport. The former comes with updated features not found on its siblings, while the latter is an analogue and smartwatch hybrid with new fitness and health related features.

The Garmin Venu 2 Plus (shown above) is offered with a 1.3-inch 416 x 416 pixel AMOLED display that has an always-on mode. It is only available in a 43mm size, which sets it to fall in between last year’s 40mm and 45mm Venu 2 models. Exclusive to this variant is a new microphone and speaker system, enabling for hands-free calls via Bluetooth as well as voice assistant support.

The new smartwatch also comes with the same sensors and features found on its siblings. These include heart rate and blood oxygen sensors, an assortment of health and fitness trackers, typical smartwatch functions, internal storage for onboard music streaming, as well as GPS and NFC support. Additionally, Garmin says the Venu 2 Plus features three different battery endurance modes which enables it to last up to nine days in smartwatch mode, 24 hours on GPS mode, and just eight hours on GPS with Music mode enabled.

Next up is the Garmin vivomove Sport which, like the other watches under the series, is a hybrid timepiece that merges both analogue and smartwatch features. This model is offered in a 40mm size, along with a circular 8.6 mm x 18.5 mm OLED display that supports a resolution of 72 x 154 pixels. Shown on-screen is a customisable digitalised analogue watch face which can also display notifications and other information on the bottom half. The watch is available in four colour options: green, black, brown, and white.

Also onboard are various sensors for health and fitness features including heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep, and even women’s health tracking. Garmin says the vivomove Sport is capable of lasting up to five days on smartwatch mode, and up to six days when used as a regular watch. Other than that, it has a water resistance rating of 5 ATM and comes with 20mm quick release bands.

Both the new Garmin Venu 2 Plus and the vivomove Sport are available now in the US via the brand’s official website, priced at US$450 (~RM1,886) and US$180 (~RM754) respectively. Unfortunately, the potential availability for devices in Malaysia has not been confirmed at this time.
