You Can Now Register For Booster Shot Waiting List At Private PPVs Nationwide

Eligible individuals that want to obtain COVID-19 vaccine booster shots without waiting for their appointment to be arranged through MySejahtera are now able to register themselves to be on the waiting list at participating private health facilities throughout Malaysia.

This following last week’s announcement by the COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force – Booster (CITF-B). True to its promise, one can seek the participating facilities through the search engine on the official website of ProtechHealth which is the non-profit subsidiary under the Ministry of Health (MoH) that is managing the vaccine rollout at private PPVs.

You only need to choose your state to check out the PPVs list although you can make the search result to be more specific to the city, postcode, address, and even the actual name of the PPV. When we tried the search engine at 1:48 PM today, here is the amount of PPVs currently listed in ProtectHealth’s database at each state:

  • Selangor: 537
  • Kuala Lumpur: 213
  • Johor: 227
  • Perak: 131
  • Kedah: 109
  • Penang: 86
  • Sabah: 81
  • Sarawak: 80
  • Negeri Sembilan: 78
  • Pahang: 72
  • Melaka: 63
  • Kelantan: 58
  • Terengganu: 31
  • Perlis: 12
  • Putrajaya: 8
  • Labuan: 4

As per CITF-B’s announcement last week, one can register to be on the waiting list by visiting these facilities directly. Alternatively, you can also call or e-mail them although based on the listing that was provided by the search engine, only a handful of these private PPVs have provided their e-mail address.

In a separate statement by ProtectHealth, the company also advised the public to register at just one particular PPV in order to avoid double-booking which could lead to wastage. Additionally, the company also reminds everyone that you will not get the booster shots immediately on the spot when you visit the PPVs to register for the waiting list.

In other words, you must be on the waiting list first as PPVs will only reach out to you when there is a case of no show or cancelled appointments. Hence, that is why it is called a “waiting list”.

At the same time, do note that only the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is available as a booster shot from the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) at the moment. The time gap between the booster shot and the second primary dose for Pfizer-BioNTech recipients is at least six months while it is three months for Sinovac.

On another hand, the authorities have yet to officially announce the booster dose programme for AstraZeneca recipients although it has been confirmed that the rollout will take place very soon. Furthermore, the AstraZeneca vaccine itself has just received conditional approval as a booster shot alongside Sinovac.
