Infinix’s E-Color Shift Concept Introduces A New Way To Personalise Your Smartphone

Infinix Color Shift concept CES 2024

Infinix has shown off its latest E-Color Shift concept during CES 2024, which may have the potential to change how users can personalise their smartphones in the future. The brand‘s latest tech involves the use of third generation E-Ink Prism panels on a handset’s rear case that can change and maintain colours or even patterns without needing to consume power.

According to Infinix, the utilisation of E-Color Shift technology enables users to customise their phone’s rear cover by presenting time, mood, and other functionalities in a matrix layout. Further, this could also empower them to express their uniqueness and communicate specific information through exclusive phone designs, going beyond simple colour modifications.

Apart from that, the brand also showcased two other concepts that could potentially make their way to its smartphones in the near future. Both of which are battery related, namely the AirCharge and Extreme-Temp Battery technologies.

AirCharge aims to eliminate the need for cables to charge smartphones by utilising multi-coil magnetic resonance and adaptive algorithms to accommodate wireless charging. It supports distances up to 20cm and at 60-degree angles, operating below 6.78MHz and offers charging power up to 7.5W. However, it does require a compatible AirCharge charging device to be present, and it is unclear how many devices can be charged simultaneously.

Next up is the Extreme-Temp Battery, which is designed to address the issue of lithium-ion freezing under extreme climate conditions. It incorporates biomimetic electrolyte and fusion solid-state technology on the electrodes in order to work in different temperatures. Infinix claims that it can work in conditions as low as -40 degrees Celsius, with a charging temperature range from -40 to 60 degrees Celsius.

While all of the concepts shown are exciting, there is no information available regarding the timeline for their integration into Infinix products just yet. Without a doubt, the most interesting of the lot is the E-Color Shift tech which, as mentioned earlier, could take smartphone personalisation to another level.
