Whoscall and PDRM have announced another collaboration in order to increase their efforts of curbing scams and frauds through phone calls. This time, the app is giving away a whopping one million premium accounts for free for a whole year, giving Malaysians access to more features to protect themselves from scammers.
To refresh your memory, PDRM announced a strategic partnership with Whoscall back in January, which is a caller identification service by Taiwanese developer Gogolook. The partnership sees the app getting access to the police’s Semak Mule CCID System database in order to get updated information on known numbers from scammers. According to PDRM, the user pick up rate of scam calls dropped by nearly 50% within the last 11 months, with Whoscall users blocking 41% of fraud numbers provided by its database.
The premium version of the app offers the ability to automatically block spam numbers as well as update the number database, instead of you having to manually do these actions. Additionally, it lets users have an ad-free experience on the app. Whoscall’s premium subscription normally costs RM8.90/month or RM87.90/year.
To get the free one-year subscription to Whoscall premium, sign into your account on its redeem page and use the promo code PDRMLawanScams. This giveaway, worth RM87 million, can be redeemed from now until 31 March 2024.
