Apple has announced that it will indeed hold an event next week on 30 October 2023, just as suggested by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman prior to this. Apart from being dubbed as “Scary Fast” due to it falling on a day before this year’s Halloween, the company didn’t actually say what the event is all about.
One possible hint is the animation featured on the event’s official page, which shows the Apple logo transforming into the Finder icon. This suggests that new Macs are incoming, likely the new M3-powered iMac and MacBook Pros that were initially tipped by Gurman earlier this week.
To recap, the Bloomberg journalist claims that one of the upcoming devices debuting during next week’s event is a long awaited refresh to Apple’s 24-inch iMac. It is suggested that the next-gen model will skip a generation in order to feature the brand’s latest yet unannounced M3 silicon instead. There’s no mention of a redesign, so it is quite likely for the device to retain its predecessor’s existing look.
Next up are two new MacBook Pros, which Gurman believes are updated versions of the 14-inch and 16-inch models. Like the iMac, these will feature the new M3 chip as well, or maybe advanced variants of it.
There’s also the rumour of the first batch of next generation iPads incoming, but it is uncertain whether they’ll be debuting during the Scary Fast event. These were originally tipped to launch last week, though this turned out to be inaccurate. Meanwhile, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple won’t be releasing any new iPads until 2024.
For our timezone, the upcoming Scary Fast event will fall on Tuesday, 31 October 2023 at 8am local time. Those who want to tune in may do so by viewing it via Apple’s official website and Youtube channel, as well as on the Apple TV app.
