Yes 5G Now Offers eSIM Support

Local telco Yes 5G has announced that it has finally added support for “embedded” SIM, or eSIM, for its customers. This means that users with supported phones will be able to switch to or add a Yes line without the hassle of swapping out a physical SIM card.

Many major telcos already offer eSIM such as Maxis, CelcomDigi, and U Mobile, with TM’s Unifi Mobile being the only big player left that is still missing out on the feature. In fact, even Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNO) such as Yoodo, Tune Talk, and XOX have had eSIM support for a while now.

Currently, Yes’ eSIM is only supported by a small number of Android devices from five brands, namely Samsung, HONOR, OPPO, Xiaomi, and vivo. The telco does not specify if or when it will start supporting iPhones, although it can be presumed that it will be adding more devices to its support list in the future.

You can get the eSIM through the Yes website, the MyYes app, and its physical stores. For existing users, you can also choose to switch from your current physical SIM to an eSIM through the app by requesting for a replacement SIM.
