Xiaomi subsidiary Redmi officially debuted its next-generation Note smartphone line-up in China. The new series consists of three models, namely the Redmi Note 13, Note 13 Pro and the high-end Note 13 Pro+. As you may recall, the latter two have been heavily featured in numerous teasers that were previously released leading up to the launch last night.
Starting with the standard Redmi Note 13, this particular model offers a flat 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 1080 x 2400 pixel resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 1000-nit brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Also featured is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, loudspeaker, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB-C connector. The phone has an IP54 water and dust resistance rating, and is available in three colours: black, white and blue.
Under its hood is a MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SOC that’s paired with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and up to 256GB of internal storage. Powering the phone is a 5,000mAh battery with 33W wired fast charging support. Besides that, the vanilla variant also comes with Android 13 via MIUI 14, as well as dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, but no NFC support.
As for imaging, the Redmi Note 13 features a dual camera setup on its back which consists of a 100MP primary shooter and a 2MP depth sensor. Meanwhile, situated in the punch-hole cutout on its display is a 16MP selfie camera.
Next we have the Redmi Note 13 Pro, which shares the same design to the vanilla model, with the exception of a third lens to its rear camera setup. While it also has the same display size as the starter variant, its 6.67-inch AMOLED panel actually offers a higher resolution of 1220 x 2712 pixels, 120Hz refresh rate, 1800-nit peak brightness, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection and even comes with an under-display fingerprint sensor. Apart from that, the phone features stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB-C port, an IP68 water/dust resistance rating, and is offered in four colourways: black, white, violet and green.
On the inside, this variant comes with the new Snapdragon 7s Gen2 chipset, an Adreno 710 GPU, up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of internal storage. Unlike the vanilla Redmi Note 13, the Pro is equipped with a slightly larger 5,100mAh battery, which supports a faster charging rate of 67W through USB-C. It also features Android 13 via MIUI 14, as well as dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC wireless connectivity.
For photography, the Redmi Note 13 Pro offers a Samsung ISOCELL 200MP-powered primary camera with OIS, paired together with an 8MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro sensor. Its front-facing camera, on the other hand, uses the same 16MP sensor as the non-Pro variant.
Last but not least, we have the high-end Redmi Note 13 Pro+ model. Unlike its two siblings, the phone sports its own unique design which features a textured rear panel. Its display is a curved 6.67-inch OLED panel with 1220 x 2712 pixel resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 1800-nits peak brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Also onboard is an under-display fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers and USB-C, but lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack. Additionally, it has a water and dust resistance rating of IP68 and is offered in three colourways: black, white, and a quad-colour combination .
Internally, the Pro+ packs a MediaTek Dimensity 7200-Ultra SoC, a Mali-G610 MC4 GPU, up to 16GB RAM, and up to 512GB storage. Strangely enough, Redmi has decided to equip this particular model with a smaller battery capacity of 5,000mAh, though it does support the fastest charging rate of 120W via USB-C.
Besides that, the phone also runs on Android 13 via MIUI 14, and features dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.3 as well as NFC wireless connectivity. Imaging-wise, the high-end variant offers the same sensors for both its rear and front cameras as the Pro model.
The new Redmi Note 13 series is slated to go on sale in China on 26 September 2023, with no plans for a global release just yet. The vanilla variant starts at CNY1,099 (~RM706), the Pro at CNY1,399 (~RM898), while the Pro+ at CNY1,999 (~RM1,284).
