iPhone 15 Pro Models Reportedly Debuting At Higher Price Points

Apple iPhone 15 Pro Dynamic Island leak

Apple’s iPhone 15 series is expected to debut sometime next month, with rumours prior to this suggesting that the launch event may take place on either 12 or 13 September 2023. While pricing for all four models under the line-up is still kept under wraps officially, Digitimes is claiming that the Pro models may debut at much higher values this time around.

In its latest report, the news publication says prices for both the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will allegedly see a hike of US$200 each, resulting in the former to launch at US$1,099 (~RM5,099) while the latter at US$1,299 (~RM6,027). The regular and Plus variants, on the other hand, are said to retain their US$799 (~RM3,707) and US$899 (~RM4,171) price tags as their predecessors.

It is believed that Apple’s decision behind the hikes is to widen the gap between the non-Pro and Pro iPhones. For quite some time now, the company has equipped the latter variants with additional features that are not offered on the former. However, the price difference between the base Plus and the base Pro models is only US$100, so it is unsurprising that consumers may opt one over the other depending on their budget. The same can be said regarding the price difference of the base Pro and the base Pro Max.

There’s also the rumour suggesting that Apple may be rebranding the Pro Max designation to Ultra instead. Apart from the larger size, it is unclear at this time whether it will come with any exclusive features that will justify its US$200 difference from the base Pro model. It is also worth noting that the hike may likely see the top-end variant exceed the US$2000 (~RM9,304) mark for its highest memory configuration.

Speaking of rumours, it is also alleged that the Pro and Pro Max/Ultra will be the first iPhones to be equipped with a telephoto camera with 10x optical zoom, titanium chassis, and faster USB-C ports with Thunderbolt support. The regular iPhone 15 models, on the other hand, are believed to feature regular USB-C ports with a lower charging rate, as well as the Dynamic Island design that was previously exclusive to the current Pro models.
