WhatsApp Starts Rolling Out Much-Needed Improvements For Polls, Captions

WhatsApp is introducing yet another update with exciting improvements to some of its features, this time focusing on polls and captions. These changes have started rolling out to users globally and, according to the Meta-owned app, will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.

First up is that WhatsApp is implementing three new features for polls to help users gather info more quickly and decisively. Users can now create single-vote polls that will allow everyone to only vote once. To use this, just turn off “allow multiple answers” when creating a poll.

Additionally, you can now search for polls in your chats in case you need to refer to them and can’t find them. In the search function, there is a new “Polls” filter so that you can limit the results to only polls. Last but not least, WhatsApp has added notifications for when people vote on your polls so you can stay updated with the responses.

There are also some welcome improvements for sharing documents and forwarding, with the new update providing the ability to add captions. Before this, any forwarded media or shared documents would be sent without captions. You can add captions for documents and as for forwarding, the app will let you keep, delete, or edit the existing caption.

Of course, this isn’t the most major update that WhatsApp has rolled out this year. That title goes to the recently released Companion Mode, which lets users link up to four secondary devices, including Android phones.

Other stable updates launched by the company include the ability for users to keep disappearing messages, as long as the sender wants to allow it. WhatsApp also added additional security measures for transferring accounts and gave admins more control over the groups they oversee, including the power to approve or reject join requests.
