Lotus Eletre Launch Malaysia

Malaysia and Lotus has a long history together but today’s occasion marks a different chapter altogether. Just moments ago, the Geely and Etika Automotive subsidiary has officially unveiled its first full-electric SUV, the Lotus Eletre in our market.

When the company first unveiled to the world last October, it describes Eletre as having the soul of Emira which is Lotus’ latest and last model to be powered by an internal combustion engine. At the same time, it is also said to have the aero performance of the Evija full-electric hypercar.

Lotus Cars Malaysia has brought all three variants of the Eletre into our market including the top of the range, Eletre R which offers a dual-speed setup with 675kw (905hp) output and 985Nm of torque. It also has the ability to go from 0 to 100km/h in just 2.95 seconds together with a maximum speed of 265km/h.

Also available are the Eletre S and standard Eletre which offers the same 450kW (603 hp) single-speed setup that provides a top speed of 258km/h. When it comes to 0 to 100km/h acceleration, the figure for these variants is slightly lower than their R counterparts but nevertheless, still pretty impressive at 4.5 seconds.

Regardless of the version that one prefers, all three Eletre variants come with a 112kWh battery which required 20 minutes of charging time to go from 10% to 80% when plugged into a DC fast charger. Given the differences between their performance though, the standard Eletre and Eletre S have a maximum range of 600km according to WLTP standards while the Eletre R maxes out at 490km.
