Just days after it released the Instinct Crossover series, Garmin is now launching another hybrid smartwatch into the Malaysian market. While the Instinct Crossover focused more on practicality and ruggedness, the new vivomove Trend is centred around style and aesthetics, available in deep black, white cream, french grey, and mist grey.
Being a hybrid smartwatch, it has physical watch hands on top on a digital touch display with a resolution of 254×346. It is rated to be water-resistant up to 5 ATM and is equipped with Bluetooth for pairing with smartphones, which you’ll need to do to as it does not have built-in GPS. On the other hand, it has features such as showing notifications from your phone, music playback control, and find my phone.
The wearable is equipped with a myriad of sensors for health tracking, which enables you to monitor your heart rate, VO2 Max levels, stress levels, sleep patterns, blood oxygen saturation levels, and menstrual cycle. As for workouts, it can track your steps, calories burned, distance traveled, respiration rate, and it can automatically count your reps as well as set daily goals based on your activity level.
When cycling, the watch will alert you once you reach set goals including time, distance, heart rate, or calories. The water resistance also allows the device to be used while swimming, with the wrist-based sensor being able to monitor your heart rate underwater. According to Garmin, the watch can only keep 14 days of activity tracking data.
The battery life of the vivomove Trend is unimpressive to say least, promising only up to four days of battery life that can be extended for an additional day if you turn on watch mode, which makes it a regular analog watch. On the other hand, the wearable is Garmin’s first ever smartwatch that supports Qi wireless charging, making it compatible with most wireless charging pads.
All colours of the Garmin vivomove Trend are available now for RM1,380 except for the mist grey, which will only be released at the end of February. The smartwatch can be purchased through Garmin’s Shopee, Lazada, and AECO shops as well as its retail stores.
