While we are still awaiting news of NVIDIA’s Geforce RTX 4070, rumours surrounding another unannounced card, the RTX 4060 Ti, have already started to emerge on the digital grapevine. Apparently, the mid-tier GPU will only require 160W in order to function, compared to the 220W needed to run its direct predecessor, the RTX 3060 Ti.
The rumours originate from prominent and reliable hardware leakster kopite7kimi (@kopite7kimi), who updated their previous tweet about the RTX 4060 Ti. In that tweet, they also referenced that the mid-range GPU would have a very short reference board and that it would use an AD106-350-A1 GPU. That’s a GPU that hasn’t been announced yet, with the lowest tier that is currently available being the AD104 GPU, which is currently in use with the RTX 4070 Ti.
After correction, 160W. https://t.co/thAbqh0Ndq

Further alleged details of the RTX 4060 Ti from kopite suggest that the GPU would house 8GB GDDR6 running at 18Gbps. For the record, this would be the first card to use non-GDDR6X graphics memory. That said, the RTX 3060 Ti also wasn’t fitted with the higher-tier memory, and it was the second card to be sport GDDR6, after the RTX 3070. Moving on, kopite also said that the card would ship out with 4352 CUDA cores and 32MB L2 Cache. Also, it is said that the card will have a bandwidth 288GB/s, which also happens to be considerably lower than its predecessor’s 608GB/s and 448GB/s, depending on which SKU you look at.
Unsurprisingly, Kopite’s tweet does contain any hints as to what sort of performance the RTX 4060 Ti would have, but that’s to be expected, given that the card itself hasn’t actually been announced or acknowledged by NVIDIA, yet. There is also the RTX 4070: the card is expected to launch sometime in the first quarter of this year, although when exactly is anyone’s guess at the moment. In short, it is unlikely that we’ll be seeing this card launching anytime before that.
