Samsung Malaysia today has announced permanent price reductions for four of its tablet products, effective immediately. These include the entire Galaxy Tab S8 line-up from February of this year, as well as the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite that launched back in 2020.
As a refresher, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 series consists of three models: the standard Tab S8, S8+, and the top-of-the-line S8 Ultra. The vanilla variant sports a 11-inch LTPS TFT display with 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution, the Plus has a 12.4-inch Super AMOLED with 2800 x 1752 resolution, while the Ultra gets a massive 14.6-inch Super AMOLED with 2960 x 1848 resolution. Keep in mind that only the Ultra model comes with an under-display fingerprint scanner, while the standard and Plus variants feature side-mounted scanners instead.
All three models feature 120 Hz refresh rate, AKG-tuned quad speakers, Android 12 via Samsung One UI 4.1, Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, and an included S-Pen stylus. Internally, the trio pack the flagship-tier Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset from Qualcomm, along with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB on the vanilla Galaxy Tab S8, 8 GB + 256 GB on the Plus, and 12 GB + 256 on the Ultra. As for battery specifications, the tablets come with 8,000 mAh, 10,090 mAh and 11,200 mAh capacities respectively, along with 45W fast charging support via USB-C.
In the photography department, all three models from the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 series feature a dual camera setup on their backs, which consists of a 13 MP primary and a 6 MP ultra-wide. Found in front, on the other hand, is a 12 MP ultra-wide selfie camera.
Meanwhile, the two-year-old Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite features a 10.4-inch TFT display with 2000 x 1200 pixel resolution, an Exynos 9611 octa-core processor, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage, and microSD storage support of up to 1 TB. Additionally, it also comes with a 7,040 mAh battery, an included S-Pen, an 8 MP rear camera, and a 5 MP front-facing camera.
The standard, Plus and Ultra variants were priced at RM 3,299, RM 4,599 and RM 5,899 at launch. After the revision, all three are now priced at RM 3,199, RM 4,299, and RM 5,399 respectively. Though the reductions for the former two aren’t that drastic, the RM 500 cut for the latter is worth keeping in mind.
As for the Tab S6 Lite, this is actually the second time that Samsung has revised its price. Just prior to this, the tablet’s retail value went down from its original launch price of RM 1,699 to RM 1,499 back in August of this year. Now, its pricing has been reduced yet again to RM 1,249.
