Lenovo, during the ongoing SIGGRAPH 2022 conference and exhibition in Vancouver, announced that it will be releasing new AMD Ryzen-powered variants to its third generation ThinkPad P15v and ThinkPad P14s mobile workstations. The original Intel versions for both models were first launched by the company two years prior, back in June 2020.
The first of which, the Lenovo ThinkPad P15v Gen 3, is the largest among the two and features a 15.6-inch FHD or Ultra HD resolution display, with 16:9 aspect ratio, up to 600 nits of brightness and DisplayHDR 400 support. The screen also covers 100% of Adobe RGB, therefore making it ideal for creative work, while the Ultra HD configuration also includes X-Rite color calibration.
Under its hood is a choice of either an AMD Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7 Pro 6000 H-series processor, along with up to an NVIDIA RTX A2000 professional GPU. This is also paired together with up to 64GB of RAM and a 4TB of storage via an internal solid state drive (SSD).
Meanwhile, the ThinkPad P14s Gen 3 comes with a 14-inch panel with 16:10 aspect ratio. Lenovo did not provide a detailed spec sheet for this model but if it is anything like the Intel version, the mobile workstation should be offered starting with a WUXGA display and maxing up to a 2.2K resolution option.
Powering the device is an onboard AMD Ryzen Pro 6000 U-series processor, and is expected to come with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage via SSD. The company says this version of the P14s Gen 3 doesn’t include the option for discrete graphics, but it is worth noting that the included Ryzen 6000 series does come with integrated AMD Radeon 660M or 680M graphics acceleration.
Lenovo has yet to reveal when these new AMD-powered variants of its third generation ThinkPad P15v and ThinkPad P14s will be available, let alone how much they will cost. For your reference, the Intel version of the former model is currently offered at a starting price of RM 4,755.41, while the latter model starts from RM 4,663.41 via the company’s official Malaysia website.
