WhatsApp Working On Extending The “Delete For Everyone” Time Limit Indefinitely

Whatsapp delete for everyone messages

WhatsApp is reportedly working on a much longer time period for enabling the “Delete For Everyone” message button. You’re most likely familiar with the feature, which was released years ago and allows users to delete messages – not just from your side, but from the recipient’s phone as well.

However, while it’s great that users get to erase text that may contain a mistake (or one that they might regret sending), you only have a limited amount of time to use “Delete For Everyone” before the limit expires. The limit was initially set to 7 minutes before it was extended to the current time limit of 4096 seconds, or 68 minutes and 16 seconds.

The new feature, spotted by WABetaInfo, is still under development and is not yet available to the public. WABetaInfo’s preview shows them being able to use “Delete For Everyone” on a message from August.

While this might change when it’s officially rolled out, it currently allows deleting any message for anyone for an indefinite period. The feature was submitted by WhatsApp through the Google Play Beta Program, which suggests that in the future, Android users might be the first to get it.

Aside from the ability to delete messages for everyone, WhatsApp is also working on another privacy-focused feature that lets you set a global limit for disappearing messages. The private messaging service also launched the View Once feature, which automatically deletes a message after the recipient has viewed it, similar to Snapchat.
