Samsung Pay Delays The Removal Of Boost QR To 24 November

Samsung earlier this month has announced that it will discontinue the Boost QR payment feature for Samsung Pay on 15 November. However, the company has since delayed the move to 24 November.

In an update to the notice that was originally posted inside the Samsung Pay app on 3 November, the company didn’t provide any details regarding the delay. Nevertheless, the Boost QR payment feature will be removed through a mandatory update that will be rolled out on 24 November.

Launched in May 2020, it is the only QR-based payment method being made available through Samsung Pay in Malaysia. Not only that, Boost is also the sole e-wallet option over there and the integration actually includes advanced features such as peer-to-peer money transfer as well as direct wallet top-up.

Until today, neither Samsung nor Boost have come forward to provide any explanation behind the removal of the Boost QR feature from Samsung Pay despite it being one of the top e-wallet services in the country. Hence, it is not known who actually cut the ties between these two companies.
