The COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force – Booster (CITF-B) has decided to implement the waiting list method at all private health facilities that are involved in the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine booster shot throughout Malaysia.
According to the media statement that was released CITF-B earlier this evening, the waiting list would allow individuals that are already eligible for a booster shot to get it without waiting for appointments through MySejahtera. Once their name has been registered into the waiting list, they can be easily reached out by respective health facilities whenever there is a case of no show or cancelled appointments.
Aside from eligible individuals, the waiting list will also be made available to those that have not yet been vaccinated as well as teenagers aged 12 to 17 years old that have not yet completed their vaccinations. Additionally, individuals that have missed their vaccination appointments or want to obtain the booster dose earlier than the date provided by MySejahtera will have access to the waiting list as well.
Nevertheless, CITF-B has insisted that the frontliners within the health, security, and defence sector will still be prioritized for the booster dose. The same goes for individuals aged 18 years old and above with comorbidities alongside residents and staff members of long-term care facilities. In addition to that, priority will also be given to individuals aged 40 years and above as well as pregnant women, and those who are about to travel overseas. You can request to have your name on the waiting list by visiting any of participating private health facilities from 22 November onwards.
Alternatively, CITF-B also said that the registration can be made via phone and e-mail. You can refer to the list of the participating facilities that will be released on ProtechHealth’s website on the same day.
At moment, booster shots are only available for those who were administered with the vaccine from Pfizer-BioNTech and Sinovac. While Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has previously confirmed that booster dose will also be provided to AstraZeneca recipients, details regarding it have not yet been officially announced by the Ministry of Health.
