Oh, HP. The company is clearly no stranger to rumours, leaks and headlines. In the past year alone, the company had “accidentally” let slip the existence of an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3080 Super, as well as purchased the HyperX gaming division from the memory maker, Kingston. Now, a new leak has sprung from the brand’s rusty plumbing and this time, it’s about a mobile variant of an RTX 3080 Ti GPU, housed within an Omen laptop.
Specifically, it is the benchmark numbers of the RTX 3080 Ti-powered Omen laptop, which was found on the Geekbench 5 listings. According to the page, the RTX 3080 Ti in the laptop has 16GB of graphics memory, presumably GDDR6, a GPU clock of 1395MHz, and 58 Compute Units, which translates to around 7424 CUDA core. As for its performance, the laptop – with the RTX 3080 Ti – scored 127392 points in OpenCL and 90114 in the Vulkan test.
It should be noted that the laptop’s CPU itself is also of interest; the page lists it as an Intel Core i7-12700H, a CPU model that is obviously part of the chipmaker’s recently launched 12th generation Alder Lake lineup, and one that has yet to be announced. Specs-wise, the CPU has a 14-cores, 20-threads layout, a 4155MHz (~4.2GHz) boost clock, and a base clock of 2.44GHz.
The leaked details also seem to coincide with an earlier rumour that NVIDIA is gearing up to announce an RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3080 12GB sometime in December, while an RTX 3090 Ti is rumoured to launch sometime next year. But as always, it’s best to treat this story with a healthy amount of scepticism until an official announcement has been made.
