Popular e-wallet Boost has just launched Boost Makan, its in-house food ordering platform. You can find it in the Boost app under “Food”, with services including delivery, pick up orders, walk-in payments, and drive-thru.
The drive-thru feature allows users to key in their plate number, so that merchants can quickly identify your car when you arrive and hand over your order. Naturally, it seems that the only payment method available is Boost wallet, so you will need to make sure your wallet has enough funds before ordering.
The company says that it is leveraging on its 9.5 million user base to connect F&B merchants with customers on its app, allowing F&B businesses of all sizes to use the platform. Boost Makan is integrated into the Boost Biz app, so merchants don’t need an additional system or terminal.
Boost Makan is entering a very crowded space, as Shopee, AirAsia, and even Senheng have recently joined the food delivery market alongside dominant platforms Grab and Foodpanda. To promote its launch, users can get a RM5 cashback on orders over RM20 up to three times until 31 December, but the cashback can only be used on Boost Makan and not other Boost payments.
