Back at the start of October, popular tech speculator, Moore’s Law Is Dead (MLID), shared renders of what Intel’s ARC Alchemist graphics card would look like, specifically with the chipmaker’s own reference design. As it turns out, those renders could very well be the real McCoy.
The latest images provided to MLID appear to show an actual graphics card, complete with a reference cooler shroud design, identical to what was initially shown in earlier renders. Specifically, the silver shroud at the front of the card sports a rippled design that surrounds the card’s two fans. MLID’s pictures also show off the back of the card, which is lacking a backplate. Telling us that Intel has opted to go the “naked” route for it.
Specs-wise, MLID says that the card in the picture is Intel’s top-of-the-line 512EU model that features 4096 FP32 shading units and up to 16GB GDDR6 memory. By comparison, those sort of specifications should put the Alchemist-powered graphics card in line with NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3070 or AMD’s Radeon RX 6700XT.
The card’s PCB is also black, instead of the industry’s standard green. Still on the PCB, we can also see that the component is shorter than the sum of its part, with its heatsink extending well beyond the length of the PCB. More importantly, the image also shows that the reference card is powered by 8-pin and 6-pin power connectors, suggesting that the card’s TDP could be rated at around 225W.
Beyond the high-end Alchemist card, MLID also shows off renders of a 128EU variant of the Alchemist GPU. Despite showing just renders of this card, the YouTuber says that he has actually seen the card in the flesh, but doesn’t really say anymore than that. Specs-wise, the 128EU card is expected to house 1024 FP32 shader units, up to 8GB GDDR6 graphics memory, and a 75W TDP.
Intel’s ARC Alchemist GPU lineup is expected to make its debut next year, presumably during CES 2022. However, this announcement date is merely speculation at this date, so take it with a grain of salt.
