Porsche Announces Gran Turismo Cup Asia Pacific

Porsche Gran Turismo Cup Asia Pacific

As a racing simulator, Gran Turismo has pretty much blurred the line between real and virtual racing. And with the current COVID-19 pandemic, it’s all the more reason to hold a racing event within the video game than in the real world. Porsche is doing just that, with its upcoming racing esports event.

The tourney is officially known as the Porsche Gran Turismo Cup Asia Pacific, and will be played within Gran Turismo Sport of the PS4. The company says regional qualifiers will see players fro Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Brunei, the Philippines and New Zealand racing in five qualifying rounds for points.

The top five will then face racers from Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, each sending five of their own. Winning the tourney leads to an all-expenses paid trip to Tokyo to visit the Porsche Experience Centre.

As mentioned earlier, there are five qualifying rounds for the tourney, each with its designated track and car model. To join, all you need to do is to boot up Gran Turismo Sport on your PS4 or PS5, go to Sport Mode and select the Porsche Gran Turismo Cup Asia Pacific event. You can find out more by heading to the tourney’s web page, linked below.
