The government has decided to ease down some of the National Recovery Plan (PPN) restrictions that have been imposed on the creative industry, according to a new announcement by Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob. Cinema operators are among those that have been included in the list in which they are now allowed to be operational once again starting from 9 September onwards.
However, cinemas can only operate at 50% of their usual capacity. At the same time, they are also only allowed to admit customers that have been fully vaccinated.
In case you missed the news, one would only be deemed as fully vaccinated 14 days after they received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine or 28 days if they received the one-dose vaccine. The recent update to MySejahtera has allowed the app to show users’ vaccination status right on its check-in section.
Meanwhile, other activities that have obtained the green light from the government also includes indoor busking and live performance at hotel lounges for fully vaccinated individuals. Live recordings involving informative and entertainment shows are also allowed to admit fully vaccinated audiences as long as it is within 30% of the studio’s capacity.
The same policy also applies to live shows such as theatre, musicals, music, and comedy although audiences must obtain appointments before they attend such shows. Visitors to art exhibitions at galleries, expo centres, and museums have to adhere to the policy as well.
