Horizon Zero Dawn was one of the first formerly PlayStation exclusives to make its way to PC. So naturally, it was a matter of time before Horizon Forbidden West, the sequel of the former, would do the same. But it looks like the sequel game is making the transition a little faster than usual.
As announced on the official PlayStation Blog, Horizon Forbidden West will be available on both Steam and the Epic Game Store on 21 March. Which is, as mentioned, quite a bit earlier than other former exclusives. For context, Zero Dawn was first released on 28 February 2017 on the PS4, but only made its way to PC on 7 August 2020. Contrast this to Forbidden West, which is heading to PC in just slightly over two years. Not sure if this is a trend moving forward, but if it is, then it’s good news for those looking forward for God of War Ragnarok’s PC port
Just like any transition to PC, you get more graphics and display options with this Horizon Forbidden West port. On the former category, the key stuff includes things like Nvidia DLSS 3, AMD FSR and Intel XeSS. Or if your rig is already beefy enough, DLAA. There’s also support for DirectStorage to simulate the quick load times on the PS5.
On the latter, you get a variety of ultra-wide screen options. There’s the usual 21:9 and 32:9, or if you want to go really wild with your Horizon Forbidden West experience, there’s also support for 48:9 triple monitor setups.
With Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition – meaning it comes with the Burning Shores expansion – coming to PC in just under two months, there’s naturally some pre-order bonuses being thrown in. But on the flip side, there’s no system requirements just yet. At any rate, you can find the game’s page on Steam and EGS linked below.
