Yesterday, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that eMadani, formerly known as e-Tunai, will be disbursed to the eligible public on 4 December. Now, the Finance Ministry has added a dedicated page for the programme which finally reveals the four e-wallet providers that will be involved with the RM100 credit payout.

For this batch, the e-wallets involved are Maybank’s MAE, Setel, ShopeePay, and Touch ‘n Go eWallet.  To be eligible for eMadani, you must be a Malaysian, at least 21 years old, and you must either be an STR recipient or have filed an income of RM100,000 per year or less with the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) by 15 July 2023.

This means that if you only registered as a taxpayer after that deadline or you’re not an STR recipient, your application will be rejected. Of course, if you fit all these criteria and are still rejected, you’ll have to submit a dispute with your chosen e-wallet provider. The RM100 eMadani e-wallet credit can be redeemed from 4 December 2023 until 20 February 2024, while the credit itself can only be utilised up until 29 February 2024.

As what we’ve seen in previous government e-wallet payouts, the credit can only be used for payments at physical stores. Transactions that are not allowed include peer-to-peer transfers, cash redemptions, integrated utility bill payments, integrated government fee payments, telco bills, games, parking, tolls, in-app investments, and, of course, online purchases.
