Google To Make It Easier To Remove Results About You Online

Google results about you

Google has announced a few new features with Search to keep sensitive information on users private. This will be a refinement of what the company previously announced back in September of last year, which allowed you request the removal of the aforementioned info.

With the new announcement, Google says that it will be rolling out a new dashboard that will inform you if your contact information is showing up on Search results. From there, you can immediately request their removal from the search results of others. It’s not available yet, and the company says that it’s being rolled out “in the coming days”. Though the availability of the tool starts in the US, so it remains to be seen if it will make it elsewhere as part of this rollout.

When, or rather, if it does happen, you can get access to the tool by opening the Google app on your mobile device, then hitting your Google account photo, and then looking for “Results about you. The web browser option is to visit this link. But since this is a US-only thing for now, you’ll be getting a 404 page until the rollout hits us.

Also announced within the same blog post is a change in the way explicit imagery is handled by Search. The company is changing some things around, making it so that such images are blurred by default when they appear in search results. This is part of of the SafeSearch settings, which can be turned off if that’s what you prefer.
