Touch ‘n Go eWallet has introduced GOremit on its platform, a new digital remittance service that allows users to easily send money overseas. The feature covers a total of 10 countries that include Southeast and South Asia.
Specifically, its users and merchants can remit money to Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. “Users who have the need to transfer money conveniently to their children studying abroad or transfer on behalf of their domestic helpers can do so via GOremit,” TNG Digital said.
To use GOremit, the sender first needs to complete their identity verification via eKYC on Touch ‘n Go eWallet. The feature provides three transfer methods, namely transferring to the recipient’s bank account, local e-wallet, or cash pick-up points. At launch, there are three supported e-wallets including bKash in Bangladesh as well as GCash and PayMaya in the Philippines.
Depending on the transfer method chosen, the company claims that recipients will receive the funds within 15 minutes of it being sent. For foreigners living in Malaysia, they can also use Touch ‘n Go eWallet to receive funds from overseas as long as the senders use Wise or Panda Remit.
