Motor vehicle inspection services provider Puspakom is offering free inspections for personal vehicles starting today until 20 April 2023. According to its announcement on Facebook, the initiative is introduced in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, with the aim to help owners ensure that their vehicles are at their best conditions for the journeys ahead.
Puspakom revealed the free inspection service is available at any of its branches nationwide from 8 am to 5 pm, with the exception of its Shah Alam, Taman Bukit Maluri and Pasir Gudang branches. It’s worth mentioning that this promotion also applies to its ongoing mobile inspection service that will be operating in several locations in Selangor from 9 am to 4 pm, namely at Sinar Karangkraf on 12 April (Wednesday), Setia AlamImpian on 15 April (Saturday), and Lotus’s Ara Damansara on 19 April (Wednesday).
Via an official statement issued yesterday, Puspakom CEO Mohammed Shukor Ismail said the voluntary vehicle inspection will focus on various safety aspects, including brakes, side slips, tires, suspensions, emission, lights, bottom and top of the vehicle, as well as tinted windscreen. “The free inspection drive is aimed at getting vehicle owners to be more aware of the condition of their vehicles through inspections using computerised equipment,” he added. “With the information gained, they can then send their vehicles for proper maintenance service.”
Puspakom also noted that those who undergo voluntary vehicle inspections during this promotion will be granted VIP treatment, where they can visit the aforementioned branches directly without needing an appointment, as well as given priority. At the same time, a contest is currently held on its official Facebook page that requires participants to answer two simple questions in order to stand a chance to win RM 100 worth of KFC vouchers throughout this period.
Meanwhile, on a somewhat related note, transport minister Anthony Loke announced in March this year that Puspakom will no longer be the sole provider of periodic vehicle inspection services in Malaysia come 1 September 2024. He noted that the decision was in line with the government’s aim to create a competitive service environment in this particular field, therefore presenting the opportunity to private firms so they may also offer motorists with similar services on behalf of the Road Transport Department (JPJ) in the near future.
