OPPO recently came out with two foldable smartphones, the Find N2 and Find N2 Flip. According to a reported leak, OPPO has no plans to make the foldable available outside of China but the more compact clamshell counterpart might see a global release.
It seems the rumour may come true, as we recently spotted the Find N2 Flip in the SIRIM database through the MCMC’s CheckYourLabel app. With the model number CPH2437, the OPPO foldable received its SIRIM certification at the tail-end of 2022 on 31 December and was filed by Jie Business Sdn Bhd which is OPPO’s official company name in Malaysia.
While the series is the brand’s second generation of foldable, the Find N2 Flip is its first attempt at the clamshell form factor. Even though its design may gives you the impression that it was inspired by Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, OPPO’s attempt at the flip design has a large 6.8-inch 120Hz AMOLED display when unfolded and a 3.62-inch AMOLED display on the cover that could prove to be usable when closed.
While the Find N2 was fitted with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, the company has opted for a MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ SoC when it comes to Find N2 Flip alongside LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The phone is also equipped with the brand’s in-house imaging chip, MariSilicon X, which has previously been used in the Reno8 Pro and Find X5 Pro.
The back of the Flip is fitted with a two-camera setup, a Hasselblad-tuned 50MP primary camera and an 8MP ultra-wide. Up front, OPPO has included a 32MP selfie shooter with auto-focus, housed in a punch hold cutout in the inner display.
On the battery side, the clamshell device is powered by a split battery design with a total capacity of 4,300mAh. The Flip is capable of 44W wired charging but just like the Find N2, it lacks the wireless charging that was available on the original OPPO foldable.
OPPO has not made any official announcement regarding the release of the Find N2 Flip in the local market, but with its SIRIM listing confirmed, it seems rather possible that it will be just a matter of waiting before Malaysians can get their hands on the phone.
Thanks for the tip, Kevin Ng TK!
