13th Gen Intel Core HX Series

The 13th Gen Intel Core family processor first made its debut in September last year with the unveiling of the Raptor Lake-S Series which was designed for high-performance desktop machines. This week, the family has been expanded with 32 new processors for the mobile segment which is being led by the 24-core monster that is the Core i9-13980HX.

As you might know, the Intel Core HX Series is meant for high-performance tasks such as gaming, game development, content creation, and engineering.  The Raptor Lake-HX Series currently consists of nine processors including the top-of-the-line Core i9-13980HX that carries eight performance cores (P-cores) and 16 efficient cores (E-cores) together with 32 processor threads.

With a base frequency of 2.2GHz and 1.6Hz for its P-cores and E-cores respectively, they can go as high as 5.6GHz and 4.0GHz. The monster chip which has a power consumption rating of between 55W to 157W is also equipped with Intel UHD Graphics that has 32 execution units (EU) and runs at 1.65GHz.

Intel claimed that the Core i9-13950HX offers up to 11% of improvement for single-thread performance over last year’s Core i9-12900HX while the multitask performance saw an increase of 49%. Here are some of the performance figures that Intel has released to the public:
