Samsung is expected to release a whole bunch of new devices in the coming weeks, with a follow-up to last year’s Galaxy A23 5G forthcoming. A new report from GalaxyClub claims to have the potential specs for the Galaxy A24 5G, which is apparently due to be announced on 24 January.
Just like the recently unveiled Galaxy A14 5G, there is a chance that the A24 will largely follow the blueprint of its predecessor with minor changes, if the leak proves to be true. Rumours claim that it will sport a smaller 6.24-inch AMOLED display with a lower 90Hz refresh rate instead of its predecessor’s 120Hz 6.6-inch LCD.
The Galaxy A24 will also supposedly be equipped with a two-camera array with the same 50MP primary camera and 5MP ultra-wide, minus the depth sensor found on many A-series smartphones which may be replaced with a 2MP macro instead. In fact, a separate report from last year from a South Korean outlet alleges that the upcoming Galaxy A24, A34, and A54 smartphones will all forego the depth sensor.
The only significant upgrade seen in this purported leak is the front camera. GalaxyClub asserts that the Samsung Galaxy A24 will switch out the 8MP selfie from the last year’s device to a bigger 13MP sensor. The report makes no mention of its design but if the A14 is anything to go by, the A24 might get a subtle refresh in the aesthetics department.
The phone will apparently have the same 5,000mAh battery with 25W wired charging, although, like most Samsung phones, it won’t ship with a charger in the box. It will be interesting to see whether the updated device will be powered by the same processor as the A23, which is what Samsung did with the A14.
While there are several new smartphones expected to be launched by the brand, the upcoming S23 series is the most anticipated. Samsung has officially confirmed that this year’s Unpacked event will be taking place on 2 February, an event that will see the tech giant unveil its next generation of Galaxy S devices.
